Yenny Stromgren is forever photographing, keeping her work fresh, exciting, and new. This means her web portfolio needs to be refreshed and professional. Yennyohoto asked (once again) Renaissance Funk to reskin her gallery to accompny her updated work. The site is a beautiful site, yet lets yenny's photograghy still be the main focus.

Yenny has had a great year this year, where she has been busy with new photo projects, has produced two books (and working on another), with one Photobook book "what you didn't see", receiving a honourable mention in the "Photography Book Now" competiton. All the Honorable Mention winners will have their work showcased and recognized at events worldwide in the Photography.Book.Now traveling Salon.

Renaissance Funk's Swedish Exhibition

A poky little log cabin in a Swedish forest outside a small town called Bollnas, three hours north of Stockholm. The cabin typically a Falu Rudfarg (red), dusted with snow and ice, overlooked a beautiful frozen lake. The cabin not set for winter living was quite cold and the fateful plumbing had already frozen over. A fire warmed the frigid (and virgin) canvas and a Merlot warmed the bitter cockles of the Australian Artist. This was the studio for James Roseler as he painted his “Swedish exhibition” (Drunk on Falu Red) over a 3 month stay in Sweden.

Nothing but a dense silence and space. A hush, and a peace, outside and within.

Water to clean brushes was bought up from a running spring 50 metres from the studio, and the wood for the fire (prepared years ago) was collected from an old timber hut behind the cabin. The Cabin had to be toasty so that the stubborn paint would dry, and the stubborn painter would not die.

In the end, the studio was full of 22 completed paintings, as well as body of drawings, that will be exhibited at the Kulturkiosken gallery in August 2008. All the paintings where painted on board that had been primed with the same Falu Rudfarg (red) paint that the cabin was coated in.

Kalamata Rose

Welcome to the world of Kalamata Rose, the latest childrens book by James Thornton (aka James Roseler).

What should you expect (preview of two of Kalamata Rose's pages):

One afternoon, after a morning of intense nose picking,
Where I rolled the snot, and Kalamata Rose did the flicking,
We decided that we wanted to try something new,
And it was of course Kalamata Rose who came up with the idea to make a bug and worm stew,
We spent a few hours foraging in the flora for the fauna that would make up our casserole,
And our diligence was rewarded by a mother load of critters that filled a large plastic bowl,
We squished and squashed the bugs and worms to make our tasty stew,
Then ate big spoonfuls of the gourmet meal until Kalamata Rose had a spew.

Kalamata Rose’s room is painted black with ink, glitter glue and gloom,
A keep out sign is pasted on the door to warn others of their impending doom,
In that dark hovel of a mess she sits and plays with headless toys,
She shovels grit and clay into endless sculptures of the neighbourhoods girls and boys,
She draws awesome pictures of the animal kingdom in throes of death and hierarchy,
And paints pages of animals with peoples heads in acts of greed, consumerism, and anarchy,
She listens to ambient music while writing poetry and prose,
And some times she just sits there and thinks things, after all, she is Kalamata Rose.
